Dahon makes many of the folding bikes available in the U.S. and they vary widely in cost and quality. The "Jack" is a classic urban bike that happens to fold - and to fold very simply. While you can remove the front wheel or loosen the handlebars and turn it completely around, remove the pedals, etc and make it really tiny, it is convenient just to use the latch to fold it in half - even has a stand for the folded position. 7 speeds and fat tires with shallow tread make this bike very well suited to city riding. The bike's appearance is nice, too: black and sturdy looking with regular-size wheels so you don't look like you're riding a bike meant for a circus. Not too heavy, the bike conveniently fits in the back of my RAV4 so I can still leave the back seats up and my children don't have to walk home from sport practices and I can still keep a bike with me to ride while waiting for them, waiting for the car to be serviced, waiting for all the other things modern life requires. The RAV is too high for me to get a bike on top by myself and the spare tire on the back makes racks inconvenient, so fitting inside is ideal. I love my new bike! I bought mine from bikesarecool.com and it arrives almost assembled. Though the front wheel is a quick-release wheel and should be easy to attach, the fork needs to be spread. I suggest taking it to a bike shop for final assembly and adjustment, though you could do it yourself. The pros can do it for about $20-35. I can't recommend this bike enough for city-dwellers who find themselves unable to fit bike rides into their schedule.
Coming soon - the Garmin 205 (I'm still learning the tricks - but I love the way I can mark a spot and use the watch to find it again - much better than breadcrumbs!
